How to Find the Best Home Repair Services in Your Town

Finding the best appliance repair service can be easy if you know the best qualities to look for in one of the companies near you. The value of your home can be expensive to upkeep over the years, which is why it’s important to find a qualified professional at an affordable rate that more importantly, you can trust.

Here are 4 recommended ways to find a service you can trust.

1.) Check Out The Company’s Reviews

There are TONS of websites and directories that are specifically dedicated to users leaving reviews about their experiences with businesses in their area; Think Yelp, Foursquare, Angie’s List, Home Advisor, and now even Facebook has an option for reviews. That means you can find all kinds of information and opinions about a business before even having to call them, which can be good for not wasting your money on a bad service.

2.) Ask Loved Ones For Referrals

We all have friends and family members that use local home repair services every once in a while, so you can always get recommendations from them. Facebook makes this easier than ever, as you can just ask them from your status bar.

3.) Call the Best Looking Companies Around Your Town

One sure fire way to know how a company may treat you and of course to get a quote, is to make phone calls to the best businesses in the area, which you can easily determine on the review sites that were discussed above. You can tell a lot about the employees of a company by the way they treat you on the phone, and whether or not they are okay being asked questions.

4.) See If/How They Are Being Talked About On Social Media

This has slightly been mentioned above, but social media is a great way to learn what you want to know about a business in advance. Yelp and Facebook seem to be some of the most popular review sites, and can usually provide ample information about a company.

First of all, make sure it’s the microwave that won’t turn on instead of the outlet being what is not working. Unplug the microwave and inspect it’s wire for burn marks. If you haven’t already from done so after reading the tutorial above, also remove the outer shell of the microwave.

From here, it’s possible to determine one of the following issues:

  • Bad Fan Motor –  Locate the fan and set your VOM to RX1 to probe the terminals. If you get a reading of infinity, the microwave needs to be replaced.
  • Blown Fuse – Remove the fuse using fuse pullers or your pliers, are carefully set the parts to the side so the don’t roll away from the area. Set your VOM to RX1 and perform another terminal probe. If the reading isn’t a normal 0, replace the fuse with a similar one.
  • Bad Door Switch – Locate the door switches and set your VOM to RX1 again. Normal readings indicate with the microwave door open the reading should be infinity, and 0 with them closed. If you get different readings on either, these may need to be replaced.

What Makes a Good Appliance Repair Service?

Major appliances in our homes can expensive to fix, which is why it’s important to find a professional service that knows what they are doing. Ideally, they will also have a bit of experience in the field of appliance repair, just like myself. Because of this, I thought it would be beneficial to write a post that specifically names some of the things to look for in an appliance repair service.

So let’s get right into it.

The following insights are what makes an ideal repair service. These aren’t to be take so literally that you can’t decide on a company because they don’t meet the criteria, but it’s just a rough guide as it can be harder to narrow down what makes a good company nowadays.

#1. The have reviews on the major online player sites such as Facebook, Yelp, Yellowpages, and especially Google.

These reviews can be very insightful and helpful when it comes down to making purchasing decisions.

#2. They treat you with respect when you contact them.

Whether it’s through phone or email, the tone of a business representative can say a lot about how you and your project could possibly be treated. If they can’t make time to speak to you on the phone and answer your questions, what makes you think they won’t be that way when it comes time to get down to work?

#3. They are being talked about on social media.

You know a business is doing well when they are being talked about and recommended all across popular social media networks like Facebook and Twitter. If your friends have used a service and it was good, the chances are good that the service will also be good for you.

#4. The representative appears knowledgeable when to speak, or are around them.

If the person you are asking questions to and getting information about your appliance repair needs doesn’t sound like they know what they are talking about, then that’s obviously not a good sign. The information customers need to know flows naturally from appliance repair experts since it’s their craft and they have become very good at it.

Here are some of the things to consider when purchasing a new microwave.

Consider the type of microwave that will best fit your needs in the kitchen without taking up too much space, or being in an inconvenient location.

The most common types of microwaves are installed either under an upper cabinet, on top of a counter-top, or above the oven. These can range in size from small to luxury size, of course depending on price and brand.

Depending on how well you want to be able to view your food (whether it’s eye level or on a lower counter space), how much ventilation you desire, and how much/how fast you want to cook all factor into the type of microwave that will best suit you.
